Marching under the banner of Sir John Adamson High School, SJA Drummies is a squad of young ladies enrolled there — as well as proactive enthusiasts from neighbouring schools that don’t offer the sport.
The squad kicks off in January each year, training 3 weekday afternoons after school 'til 5pm, and 9-5pm on Saturdays, readying their routines for the official season opener called "Knight of Champions" ~ held in April.
The season's competition roster comprises a steady rotation of categories that whim skills you'd gasp at, at competitions held on Saturdays at varying host schools — and against the province's best!
Provincials are held end May/early June, announcing the finalist squads worthy of representing Gauteng at SA Champs.
From 9th place at Nationals in Cape Town, 2024 — to 5th in Oudtshoorn, 2025 (with our Leader placing 2nd), SJA Drummies have big plans to keep that trajectory going!
The hardest part.
At R7,500 per Drummie, this amount isn’t within easy reach for most of our girls' families.
With the discipline, commitment, and honour shown by these young ladies, our task is to eliminate the cost as a barrier to entry.
It therefore has to be raised by collective streams, through connections, angels, sponsorships, and donations from our extended communities — and from brands and businesses alike.
